Boat lettering vs. 3D signs

Custom vinyl lettering is the classic, cost-effective choice for boat names and legal documentation lettering. If you want dimensional letters that stand off the transom or light up at night, see 3D illuminated yacht signs. Not sure which is right for your boat? Send us a photo of your transom and we'll recommend the best option.

FAQ

Boat lettering questions, answered

How much does custom boat lettering cost?

Most projects range from $250 to $850 depending on letter height, character count, finish, and whether hailing port and documentation numbers are included. We quote a fixed price after reviewing transom photos and dimensions.

What vinyl is used for boat lettering?

Premium 3M and Avery marine-grade cast vinyl rated for continuous UV and saltwater exposure. Cast vinyl conforms cleanly to compound-curved transoms and holds color and adhesion for 7 to 10 years in Southern California conditions.

Do you install boat lettering in the water?

Yes. We install dockside at every major Southern California marina, no haul-out required.

Can you match my existing font or a design I've seen?

Yes. We match existing fonts, redraw stylized names from photos, or design new typography from scratch. You approve a to-scale digital proof before we cut a single letter.

Do boat name signs include the hailing port?

Yes. Documented vessels are required by 46 CFR Part 67 to display the hailing port with the vessel name on the exterior of the hull. Hailing port lettering is included with every boat name package.
